Target Audience

Safety supervisor, Line Managers, Lifting Supervisor, Foreman, Rigger, Signalman and Operators

Course Overview

At the end of the course, participants will learn how to:

• Carry out lifting operations in a safe and efficient way
• Implement legislative requirements to ensure a safe working environment
• Investigate crane accidents and implement preventive efforts

Course Duration

32 hours, including 2 hours of MCQ and 1 hour of case study assessment (with effect from 16 August 2010)

There will be a MCQ and case study assessment (with effect from 16 August 2010)

Course Outline

With effect from 16 August 2010, LSS course outline will be changed to the following:

• Legislations on Lifting Operation
• Roles and Duties of Personnel in Lifting Operation
• Planning for Safe Lifting Operations
• Safe Use of Mobile Cranes
• Safe Use of Tower Cranes
• Basic Rigging and Slinging Methods
• Lifting Accidents and Emergency Response

Pre-requisites

With effect from 16 August 2010, all new enrollments are required to have:
-Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 4 and above under the Employability Skill (ES) or equivalent and must have successfully completed Signalman and Rigger Courses

The above will be for new sign-ups with effect from 10 August 2010. Trainees who have signed up for courses prior are not subjected to this pre-requisite.
