Course Overview

Designed specifically for participants at operational level, the course aims to increase awareness and understanding of supply chain security threats and its effect on supply chain network and global trade as a whole.

Supply chain security is essential. But, at operational level, most workers are lack of the basic concepts of what security measures constitute and their purposes. The course is structured to introduce participants the concepts of supply chain, its security threats and the scope of risk so that they can learn what their roles in the operational security facilitate a secured supply chain network.

The course aims to improve supply chain security awareness and emphasis the importance of realistic and relevant security threat environment that supply chain is currently exposed to. It addresses the effect of these operational risks and threats and measures to mitigate threats and manage risks.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand and explain the security risks and threats
- Understand removal means and illegal activities
- Identify critical operational functions that are important to protect via operational security measures and level of risk involved.

Course Outline

The course addresses the importance of supply chain security through introduction of basic concept of supply chain security and its threat, brief outline of legislation and regulations relating to supply chains and general understanding of ground level supply chain security risk assessment and management.

It comprises the following topics:
- Understand basic concept of supply chain security
- Define type of threat categories to supply chain
- Describe removal means such as pilferage and theft and illegal activities such as sabotage, smuggling and its implications to security
- Understand operational functions vulnerable to security threats
- Understand operational security measures
- Understand level of risk assessment

Funding Info

The course is an Approved-in-Principle (AIP) course under the SDF EasyNet with a support level of $7.00 per training hour. (Please note that the AIP status is subjected to renewal by the Skills Development Fund.) Sponsoring companies who fulfill the following criteria, are required to pay only the unsupported portion of the course fee to association :

- Participants must be Singaporeans or Permanent Residents or 3-year Work Permit Holders.
- Companies must be registered in Singapore and bear the full training cost.
- Only company cheques are allowed for payment of course fees.

As the association endeavour to qualify the course for renewal of AIP status each year, all sponsoring companies are required to sign a letter of undertaking in which they will undertake to bear the portion supported by the Skills Development Fund to the association should their sponsored staff fail to achieve 75% attendance and/or are absent from the examination.
