Course Overview

Effective leadership and people development are key to the success of any organization. For individuals, these are important skills to acquire in order to increase employability and career advancement.

Under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Leadership & People Management Framework (LPM), a "Build Team Relationships" course has been developed to equip leaders and managers with the skills and knowledge to build effective team relationships.

Leaders must be able to establish and maintain a wide and relevant network of colleagues and strategic partners. In addition, they need to be able to promote the development of positive working relationships, respect diversity and develop team cohesiveness. The "Build Team Relationships" course equips participants with these skills to raise their competency to a WSQ level.

Course Duration

24hr (3 days)

Assessment

Formative assessment which may comprise of role plays, group discussions, presentation, case studies, business plans, games and oral/written questioning.

Course Outline

Participate in Networks

  • Establish working relationships with network members to improve knowledge sharing and networking opportunities
  • Pursue collaborative opportunities that will support mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Facilitate information exchange among network and team members to support organizational and team priorities

Develop Team Cohesiveness
  • Communicate expectations to ensure team is focused and clear about its role and purpose
  • Establish team processes to encourage collaboration and shared responsibility for decisions and actions
  • Support diversity in the team and encourage cooperation and engagement

Resolve Conflict within the Team
  • Identify roles and responsibilities of team members to minimize sources of conflict that may affect team performance
  • Work with affected member to resolve conflicts
  • Monitor and review agreed actions to resolve conflicts
